Purpose of the Role
The Data Quality Officer will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of programme data by overseeing data collection, validation, and quality assurance processes within the Global Fund-supported HIV/TB programmes in Bojanala. The role includes mentorship, capacity building, and collaboration with data capturers and M&E staff to drive high-quality reporting and evidence-based decision-making.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
• Perform routine data capturing using static tools and systems.
• Review and validate data submitted by field teams, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
• Conduct regular one-on-one mentorship sessions with staff who submit incomplete or incorrect data, and document these sessions.
• Identify root causes of data quality issues and work closely with the M&E Manager to resolve them and implement improvements.
• Support internal Routine Data Quality Assessments (RDQAs) and share findings with the M&E Officer.
• Coordinate On-Site Data Verification (OSDV) visits.
• Ensure timely and accurate data submission in accordance with SOPs.
• Build the capacity of data capturers and programme staff on M&E principles and practices.
• Assist the M&E Officer in indicator monitoring and reporting.
• Support the design and delivery of M&E training workshops.
• Maintain accurate records of program data, lessons learned, and best practices.
• Support additional programme activities, including:
o Monitoring and verification visits.
o Distribution of dignity packs to AGYW beneficiaries.
o Participation in relevant programme meetings.
• Perform any other tasks as assigned by the M&E Officer or M&E Manager.
Minimum Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree or NQF Level 6 or Equivalent qualification in Monitoring & Evaluation, Public Health, Statistics, Data Management, or Information Technology.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in a data quality, M&E, or similar role.
• Prior work experience in the HIV/AIDS, TB, Sexual and Reproductive Health, or Human Rights sectors within the NGO or government environment.
• Understanding of human rights-related barriers to accessing health and legal services, especially in Global Fund-supported contexts.
• Knowledge of M&E frameworks, indicator tracking, and data verification processes.
