Purpose of the Role
The In-School Supervisor is responsible for leading and overseeing the effective implementation of the Adolescent and Young People (AYP) HIV prevention programme within schools across the sub-district. The role includes planning, coordination, supervision, stakeholder engagement, and data oversight, ensuring alignment with Department of Basic Education and Department of Health policies.

Duties and Responsibilities
•⁠ ⁠Lead the overall planning, implementation, and coordination of the in-school AYP programme to ensure targets and objectives are met.
•⁠ ⁠Conduct mapping of schools and available support services in the district.
•⁠ ⁠Establish and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including government departments, school governing bodies (SGBs), district management teams (DMTs), and local community leaders.
•⁠ ⁠Advocate for programme support and uptake with School Management Teams and education forums.
•⁠ ⁠Ensure alignment of programme activities with DBE HIV/TB/STI Policy, Integrated School Health Policy (ISHP), and other relevant frameworks.
•⁠ ⁠Collaborate with the Strategic Information (SI) team to ensure accurate, timely data collection, validation, and reporting.
•⁠ ⁠Train and mentor in-school staff on programme activities and biometric systems.
•⁠ ⁠Conduct regular performance monitoring, site visits, and routine data quality assessments (RDQA).
•⁠ ⁠Provide supportive supervision, capacity-building, and performance management for in-school team members.

Minimum Requirements
•⁠ ⁠Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Education, Psychology, Social Science or equivalent (SAQA-recognised).
•⁠ ⁠Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a management or supervisory role.
•⁠ ⁠Current registration with a relevant professional regulatory body (if applicable).
•⁠ ⁠Previous experience with adolescent and youth programmes is strongly preferred.
•⁠ ⁠Knowledge of Department of Basic Education policies is essential.

•⁠ ⁠Strong knowledge of education and development sectors.
•⁠ ⁠Excellent report writing and data analysis skills.
•⁠ ⁠Ability to work effectively with senior departmental officials and in multi-stakeholder environments.
•⁠ ⁠Demonstrated ability to lead and supervise programme teams.
•⁠ ⁠Excellent interpersonal, communication, presentation, and facilitation skills.
•⁠ ⁠Strong planning, problem-solving, and performance monitoring capabilities.
•⁠ ⁠Financial management knowledge is an added advantage.
•⁠ ⁠Computer literacy in MS Office Suite.
