PURPOSE
The Health Systems Trust (HST) seeks to appoint two Data Capturers for the Breast Cancer Project in Zululand and City of Johannesburg. The Data Capturer works with the Powering Breast Cancer Project team to capture, verify and analyse data that is submitted. They ensure that the data quality dimensions such as validity, reliability, integrity, timeliness, completeness, confidentiality, ethics and accuracy are met for all data that is collected at facility and community level. This is a fixed-term contract, renewable based on performance and funding.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure good quality recording on RedCap Support implementation of all RedCap forms and applications
- Ensure deduplicated data are reported. (e.g., deduplication of breast cancer navigation data with the project team)
- Generate RedCap export reports to identify clients due for tracing and linkage back to Care
- Provide good quality weekly, monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual facility data
- Participate in data quality assessments
- Support the M&E Officer with developing and implementing plans to ensure data alignment between RedCap and source documents
- Ensure consistency between paper tools (e.g., registers) and electronic tools (RedCap)
- Ensure implementation of activities in line with quality improvement plans
- Respond to mentoring and support by M&E Officer to ensure project deliverables are met
- Manage assets responsibly, e.g. tablet, laptop, car in accordance with HST finance policies and procedures
- Timeous submissions of weekly plans, timesheets, leave applications, log sheets as applicable
- Financial performance through meeting targets and improving health outputs and outcomes
REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications
- Matriculation certificate is a minimum requirement; a tertiary qualification would be advantageous
- Computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office e.g. Excel, Word, PowerPoint
- Formal training and/or proven knowledge of the South African National Health Information Systems – as required by the position (e.g. Tier, WebDHIS, HPRS, and/or SyNCH)
Overall competencies and experience
- 1 years’ experience in data collection and entry in the South African National Department of Health Information Systems – as required by the position (e.g. Tier, WebDHIS, HPRS, and/or SyNCH)
- Excellent administrative and organizational skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Good time-management skills
- Good facilitation and communication skills
- 1 years’ experience in working in a Non-Government Organisation (NGO) and/or Department of Health environment
- Familiarity with the Public Health sector and District Health System in South Africa
- Good understanding of the South African Department of Health system, including policies, management and health information systems and structures
- Sensitivity to cultural differences as well as political
Travel
- The incumbent must have a valid driver’s license and be willing and able to travel as required.
REMUNERATION
A salary package commensurate with the successful candidate’s experience and qualifications and in line with HST’s job grading system will be offered.
