Organisational Background

Show Me Your Number (SMYN) is a youth-focused non-profit organisation that empowers Adolescent and Young People (AYP) through creative, peer-led approaches to improve awareness and access to services related to HIV prevention, SRHR, gender-based violence, and youth development.

SMYN also serves as the Secretariat for Civil 20 (C20) South Africa, one of the official G20 engagement groups. The C20 provides a platform for civil society organisations to engage, deliberate, and contribute independent policy perspectives that promote social justice, inclusivity, and sustainable development within the global G20 process.

Position Summary

The C20 Cluster Coordinator will coordinate, communicate, and facilitate activities within one of the Civil 20 (C20) thematic clusters under the leadership of the C20 Sherpa Office. The position ensures effective engagement of civil society organisations, experts, and stakeholders in advancing the C20 agenda and contributing to policy recommendations for submission to the G20.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the work of the assigned C20 thematic cluster in alignment with overall C20 objectives and timelines.
  • Facilitate cluster meetings, consultations, and workshops (both virtual and in-person).
  • Ensure inclusive participation from national, regional, and international stakeholders.
  • Serve as the key liaison between the cluster’s Working Group and the C20 Sherpa Office.
  • Maintain regular communication with cluster members and support knowledge exchange.
  • Record and document meetings, decisions, and outputs.
  • Prepare progress and activity reports for submission to the C20 Sherpa Office.
  • Support event planning and coordination for cluster-related dialogues and side sessions.
  • Capture lessons learnt, success stories, and best practices for inclusion in the C20 Final Report.

Minimum Requirements

  • National Diploma or bachelor’s degree in project management, Public Administration, International Relations, Development Studies, or a related field recognised by SAQA.
  • 3–5 years’ relevant experience in project coordination, advocacy, or policy engagement within civil society, multilateral, or donor-funded settings.
  • Strong understanding of global governance, G20/C20 frameworks, and civil society participation.
  • Proven experience facilitating stakeholder engagement and collaborative processes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English (additional South African languages advantageous).
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Office Suite and virtual collaboration tools (Zoom, MS Teams).
  • Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel when required.
